NBA Finals off to rip roarin' start

Nba_finals_special_moment

It must be some feeling, that special moment, the first time you're introduced at Game 1 of the NBA Finals.  Likely something you've been waiting for your entire life and probably unsure of when it will arrive again.  You get your hands together, maybe thinking you'll give a wave to the crowd or look over to your family's section.  And then within seconds, there it is, you're finally introduced... as Brian Scalabrine.

Nba_finals_very_special_moment

Suddenly everything has changed, it's still the NBA Finals and Game 1 hasn't even started yet, but you're Brian Scalabrine now.  Even the two guys behind him in the suits have turned their backs on him.  Humbling to say the least.

Nba_finals_trophy_court

Speaking of, did we mention it's the NBA Finals?  It's June 5th and there are two NBA teams playing, so it has to be the Finals, right?  Well just in case you forgot, and you didn't happen to catch it on the front of the scorer's table or ABC's graphics at the bottom, the league has conveniently placed at center court a 900-foot cartoon trophy that looks more like a tempting Super Mario Brothers coin attached to a Slip 'n Slide to remind all of us that it is indeed, the NBA Finals.  We can only assume that Phil Mushnick began putting on the war paint as soon as he saw this monstrosity.

And finally, one of the more inspiring moments of the evening, Ray Allen and some little white guy in a suit exchanging pleasantries in the most natural, least awkward way -- a fist bump.  You know suit guy practiced that all week by fist bumping his own mirror and coaching himself into the connection each time.

*Awful Announcing caught the Scalabrine thing as well
